17 May 2019

On 15 May 2019 Widjajanti Isdijoso, Deputy Director of the SMERU Research Institute for Research and Outreach, spoke at the International Conference on "Linking Social Protection to Sustainable Livelihoods: A Way Forward for Indonesia" organized by Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas, DFAT Australia, and MAHKOTA. She presented the results of a study conducted by SMERU in a session titled "Linking social protection to sustainable livelihoods: findings from the MAHKOTA / SMERU study". Her presentation was then responded to by three discussants, namely Dr. Vivi Yulaswati, M.Sc. (Director of Poverty Alleviation and Social Welfare, Ministry of National Development Planning/Bappenas), Drs. Nur Pujianto, M.Sc. (Director of Family Social Security, Ministry of Social Affairs), and Alissa Wahid (Family Economic Strengthening Expert).

Her presentation at this conference is based on the SMERU study, Identifying Livelihood Interventions for Family of Hope (PKH) Families, funded by Cardno (through MAHKOTA Program)-DFAT. The objective of this study is to develop concrete recommendations on suitable livelihood opportunities for PKH recipient families, as well as the institutional arrangements and delivery systems to ensure that PKH families can access these opportunities.
